Stepping down from our Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Enchantment, we decided to explore the city of Nassau on scooters. Nassau is the capital, largest city, and commercial centre of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
We were six people, two couples and then Isabel and myself. Even though the age difference between Isabel and myself, we have a special connection and were happy to take on this romantic trip together on a scooter in the Bahamas. I am the guy, and naturally wanted to take the steering wheel. I neglected though to tell the others that I have never ridden a motorcycle before. How difficult can it be? I have done it many a time at the arcade centers!
Isabel got on to the back, held on tight, and before we could drive out the gate, I almost drove into a truck! I just couldn't get the coordination right between accelerating and braking! I tried once more... everyone now looking at me with big eyes and rye smiles. Isabel holding on just slightly tighter. Again! The same truck magically appeared in front of me out of nowhere!
My male ego was badly bruised. And even more so when I had to hand over the wheel to Isabel who even has a license for a motorcycle! I was quiet for a while, holding on tightly, trying to deal with my embarrassment. As the turquoise waters and tropical flora rushed past, my embarrassment subsided and I started to absorb the reality of the fact that I am in the Bahamas, on a scooter, all expenses paid! The feeling was bliss.
I took out my camera, and the fact that I was on the back of the scooter, meant that I can now present these photos to you. Thanks Isabel! Love you lots.
