Open letter to a distant friend:
—
My dear friend.
I know we haven’t spoken for a number of years. I know I hung up on you and shifted all blame.
But I can see that you have found peace, that you embraced a new life and found joy in a new career. It comforts me to know that I helped to sow a seed for another human being and that this seed has flourished and produced a garden of wonder for so many.
There was a time when the streams of our lives converged along the unlikely valley of the Seine. We nourished one another with minerals from distant lands. Together we shaped great boulders that threatened to parry our flow. And although we traversed great distances, the river of our love has unwittingly branched asunder. We press ahead to carve out our separate and predetermined paths towards our inevitable reunification in the circle of life.
With love,
Pierre
